Safety should be a priority while agitating and pumping manure pits. Keeping people out of the barns during this time is imperative.

The Minnesota Pork Board and Pork Checkoff have pit pumping warning tags available at no cost to producers, manure applicators and others who work in manure management. When pumping is in progress, the tags should be visible on all barn entrances as a warning to keep out of the facility.

ABOUT THE TAGS

The heavy, cardstock tags have a metal grommet with an elastic string that easily slips onto door handles. The producer, manure applicator or site managers can enter the start date and time, end date and time, and contact information on the tag using a marker or pen.
