The award for Environmental Steward recognizes an individual who demonstrates the positive contributions the pork industry makes to the natural environment.
The award for Family of the Year honors a pork producing family who has contributed to the long-term success of the industry through leadership and pork promotion on the local and state level. This award requires a minimum of 20 years involvement in the pork industry.
The award for Pork Promoter of the Year recognizes an individual, couple, or family who has done an outstanding job promoting pork and/or the pork industry on a local, regional, or state level. Candidates need not necessarily be actual pork producers.
The award for Distinguished Service recognizes an individual who has contributed to the long-term success of the pork industry in Minnesota. This individual may be directly involved in pork production or a member of related industry/business.
The Minnesota Pork Board annually recognizes individuals and families who make significant contributions to the pork industry and their communities. Nominations for the 2011 award categories are being sought for Distinguished Service, Environmental Steward, Pork Family of the Year, Pork Promoter of the Year and Swine Manager of the Year.
Award nominations can be made by individual pork producers, county associations, allied industries, and pork producers’ neighbors and friends. The awards' description and criteria are available on the nomination form. Even if you are unable to complete all the questions on the award application form, please send it in for consideration.
The nomination deadline is Oct. 15. The winners will be recognized at the 2011 Minnesota Pork Congress.
