Geske joins Minnesota Pork staff

The Minnesota Pork Board (MPB) and Minnesota Pork Producers Association (MPPA) have named Jeremy Geske assistant executive director. The Minnesota Pork Producers Association (MPPA) is a voluntary membership organization made up of Minnesota hog farmers and supporters. The Minnesota Pork Board is charged with the oversight and implementation of promotional, educational and research programs funded by the Pork Checkoff.

Geske most recently worked on the public policy team for the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation, working primarily on animal agriculture and local government issues. Geske replaces Trudy Wastweet, who took a position at the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation in Des Moines.

Geske’s primary responsibilities will be public policy work and membership outreach for the MPPA. He will also assist with organizing Pork Checkoff educational programs.

“Jeremy has an excellent understanding of the issues and opportunities ahead for animal agriculture and pork production,” said MPPA and MPB Executive Director David Preisler.

Geske has experience in animal care, water quality and agricultural zoning issues. He is a member of the Minnesota Agricultural and Rural Leadership Board of Directors, received appointment to the Minnesota Board of Veterinary Medicine, is president of the Minnesota Suffolk Sheep Association and past-president of the Minnesota Lamb and Wool Producers Association. Prior to Minnesota Farm Bureau, he worked for the University of Minnesota Extension in Dakota County.

He earned his bachelor and master degrees in animal science from North Dakota State University, Fargo, and Kansas State University, Manhattan. He and his family live in Le Sueur County where they raise registered Suffolk sheep.
